HONOR THE PAST

As we look back on Centenary’s 125 years of ministry, we honor the spirit of our elders. We cherish the values they instilled in us: resilience in the face of the hardships building new lives in a new land; grace in the face of racial prejudice found in restrictive laws; and perseverance in the face of the massive World War II evacuation that upturned established lives and families. We honor the visions that moved them forward, the challenges they met with positive action, and the faith that sustained them.

ENGAGE THE PRESENT

As we engage the present, we are called to follow in Jesus’ footsteps: to act and not just observe, to be vessels of positive change as we advocate for social justice and racial equality, and to protect our world. We need to meet the challenges of today, to stand up for the good, but also recognize the ugliness that exists, and be a force for change. Our responsibility as God’s creatures is to harness the energy of God’s love so that everyone can stand tall in God’s world.

IMPACT THE FUTURE

As we move into the future, we must keep our eyes on Jesus who has given us direction and a source of peace, strength, and courage. We continue to build a place of love, equity, and diversity. We will confront the challenges that plague our communities. We look to the past to find inspiration, solutions, and the strength needed to build the world God intended. Through His love and grace we impact the world.
