Centenary’s First Sunday Service in the New Sanctuary

In celebration of Centenary’s 125th Anniversary, enjoy watching Centenary’s first Sunday service in the new sanctuary that occurred twenty-seven years ago on February 19, 1995.

Rev. Dr. Grant Hagiya opened the service by pointing to the center of the sanctuary that used to be where he had parked his car in Centenary’s parking lot just a year before. Raj Samaroo directed the Chancel Choir. Eddy Kurushima drew the illustrations he used during the Children’s Moments. Yae Nakamura was the liturgist. The service ended with the congregation singing “Go Now in Peace.”

Centenary will always be indebted to the family and friends who made the first service in the new sanctuary possible by donating to the Land, Building, and Sanctuary Campaigns. May we continue to do God’s will on the corner of 3rd & Central and beyond…
