Fix Your Eyes On Jesus

Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him.  (Matthew 14:28-31a)

How easy it is for us to get trapped by our own thoughts and minds? Sometimes, we get overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, work, family and social life, etc to the point that we can't see beyond ourselves. Sunday's scripture reading offers insight on where to fix our eyes on. If we look down and only see the state of our world, it will consume us, but when we look up to Jesus, he will offer his hand and lift us up. Let us look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.

(Summary of Rev. Sunyoung Lee's sermon on August 9th, 2020)
