[July 2021] Kid City Back to School Project

By Carolyn Tokunaga

This past year has been a challenging one for the Kid City students. With schools shutdown, their classes were online. It was difficult for them to find quiet places to study, campus jobs disappeared, COVID impacted their families in so many negative ways, food insecurity increased, and with Kid City Hope Place’s doors closed, they lost a part of their supportive network.

The good news is that college campuses are reopening and they will be returning to in person classes. Centenary will be providing Back to School Care Bags of school supplies and essentials to help them as they return to school.

These students from the downtown, East Los Angeles, and Central LA areas are the first in their families to attend college. They serve as role models for their siblings and their communities and are so appreciative of our gifts. They are encouraged and uplifted by our support as they work to fulfill their dreams.

If you would like to support this project, please send a donation to Centenary with Kid City written on the memo line of your check. Online, it would be a special offering with a note indicating it is for Kid City.
